SYSTEM MEETING 2 August 1979
			      EQUIPMENT

11/45: Mostek 65k memory installed & working. Zonker disconnected.
Plessey disk ready to go - ROB.
Memory map is wrong type -- will be replaced - TOB.

DCA scanner:	New chips to be installed - ROB
Return the old ones to DCA COD - LES.
Some ports go into limbo occasionally - ME.

Ampex Discs:	Drive F still broken.  Replacement parts arrived broken;
new cards quoted for 60 day delivery - ROB.

9-track tapes:	We should take another look at 6250 bpi drives.

7-track tapes:	Controller occasionally fails to report rewind completion - ME.

KL10: Revision 10 should be added to CPU to fix certain overflow/
interrupt problems. Costs something like $50 if we do it. - RPG.

Datamedias:	New ones overdue still. Product Associates has foolishly
decided to build their own modems -- prdictably, they don't work.
Also, they still haven't finished the programming for our keyboard
		- ROB.
It is apparently feasible to retrofit meta keys on old DMs.
		JAM knows how.

Foonly C1:	Still waiting for DWP to replace power supply - ROB.

KBD serializer:	Parts ordered except for PC cards; 2 weeks till PCs go out - ROB.

TI 990 computer: Possibly connect to KL10 via 9600 baud path through DCA scanner.
Two more processors & megabyte memory due in Sept. - TOB.

Dover: Still due Sept.-Oct. Comes with 16-18 Altos & file server.

Ethernet:	When for KL10 & TI990? How? - ROB.

GE cameras:	Due end of August - TOB.

Grinnell graphics system: Order due soon - TOB.

				PROGRAMS

WAITS: July availability 94%. REAP command up.
For a discussion of how to talk to WAITS from displays without
bucky or edit keys, read NOEDIT.BH[UP,DOC].
For a discussion of proposed entensions to display service,
		read DPYSER.TXT[1,ME] - ME.

Varian: Video mode up and running - ME.

XGP: To permit use of TEX fonts (which foolishly put graphic characters
under "space" - character '40), it is proposed that XGP service
be changed so that when "space" is seen, it normally prints a space
of the given width. The given graphic character (if any) would
be printed by the sequesnce "'177 '40".

E: Discussion of hidden directories ended inconclusively, as usual.

			    DOCUMENTATION

Find-a-font:	New edition still being prepared - PAT & LES.

				MOVE

Computer room:	Preliminary plan of Jacks Hall computer room done - ROY.

Cost center:	Beginning 1 Sept., SAIL computer facility will become a cost
center, with various projects buying a pie-slice. One effect
of this will be that all users must be affiliated with a sponsored
project or with an overhead activity (system programming or
		hardware) - LES.

				PARTY

End of the World: Suggest that there be another end-of-the-world party shortly
before power-down for the move - BIS.
